VMM-261 Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major Christopher K. Kluge

Sergeant Major Kluge enlisted into the Marine Corps in July 2002 and completed recruit training at MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina. Following graduation Private First Class Kluge reported to the School of Infantry, Marine Combat Training, Camp Lejeune, NC. PFC Kluge then reported to his primary military occupational specialty school at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center (NMITC) in Dam Neck, Virginia as was assigned the MOS 0231 Intelligence Analyst.

In February 2003 PFC Kluge was assigned to 1st Force Service Support Group G-2, Camp Pendleton, California. That same month he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH. Upon arriving to Kuwait was assigned to Combat Service Support Group 15 from March 2003 to June 2003 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

From February 2004 to September 2004 LCpl Kluge was temporally assigned to 1st Intelligence Battalion and deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM-2 as an intelligence analyst in the Tactical Fusion Center, Trends and Tactics Cell. In May 2004 LCpl was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In October 2004 Cpl Kluge attended the MAGTF Intelligence Journeyman's Course in Dam Neck, Virginia.

In February 2005 Cpl Kluge was again temporally assigned to 1st Intelligence Battalion deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM-3 as an intelligence analyst in the Tactical Fusion Center, Trends and Tactics Cell through October 2005. In December 2005 Cpl Kluge received orders to the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL), Wargaming Division, Quantico, VA as an intelligence analyst. In May 2006 Cpl Kluge was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In August 2008 Sgt Kluge was promoted to he rank of Staff Sergeant. In October 2008, SSgt Kluge attended the Basic Recruiter Course in San Diego and received follow on orders as a canvassing recruiter to Recruiting Station Phoenix, Recruiting Sub Station North Phoenix. In June 2010, SSgt Kluge was selected to serve as Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge of Recruiting Sub-Station East Mesa, Arizona. During this time he was selected as SNCOIC of the year Recruiting Station Phoenix.

In December 2011, SSgt Kluge was assigned to 3d Battalion 5th Marines, Camp Pendleton, California as the Intelligence Chief. In September 2012, SSgt Kluge deployed as the Battalion Landing Team 3/5 Intelligence Chief with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit for WESTPAC 12/13. In November 2012 SSgt Kluge was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.  In October 2013 GySgt Kluge received orders to the Marine Corps Information Operations Center (MCIOC), Quantico, Virginia as the Intelligence Chief. In April 2015, GySgt Kluge dual hatted as the Operations Chief and Intelligence Chief.

GySgt Kluge was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in March 2016 and reported to 3d Battalion, 7th Marines to serve as Kilo Company First Sergeant. As the Company First Sergeant he deployed in October 2016 to the Baghdad Embassy Complex with the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Central Command (SPMAGTF-CR-CC) 17.1 in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. From March 2018 through October 2018, 1stSgt Kluge deployed again with Kilo Company with SPMAGTF-CR-CC18.2 to Helmand Province Afghanistan in support of Operation FREEDOM SENTINEL and Task Force Southwest.

In December 2018 received orders to Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion, Bangor, WA where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Company B and Headquarters & Service Company.

In January of 2021 Sergeant Major Kluge was promoted to his current rank and reported for duty with HMLA-269 for assignment as Squadron Sergeant Major, deploying in support of NATO Exercise Cold Response 2022.

SgtMaj Kluge currently serves as the VMM-261 Squadron Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Kluge has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Intelligence Studies from American Military University. His personal awards included the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/3 gold stars, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/4 gold stars.
