MAG-26 Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major Joseph Sorgie

Sergeant Major Sorgie attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC in November 1996 with follow on training to Camp Geiger, NC for Marine Combat Training followed by Military Police School at Fort McClellan, Alabama as Military Police (5811).

In 1997, Private First Class Sorgie was selected and received orders to Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) Quantico, VA as a Security Guard for the Presidential Helicopter Squadron. He would be promoted and later transferred to Naval Support Activity Anacostia, Washington D.C. as the Corporal of the Guard, Sergeant of the guard and platoon Sergeant.

In February 2001, Sergeant Sorgie received orders to Headquarters Battalion (HQBN), Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC), Henderson Hall, Arlington, VA Provost Marshal Office (PMO). He served as a Watch Commander, Physical Security Specialist and Special Reaction Team member and Team Leader.

Sergeant Sorgie requested orders in July 2003 to Marine Corps Security Force (MCSF) Regiment as a Cadre instructor. He reported to MCSF Chesapeake, VA for training and upon completion, received orders to MCSF Company Rota, Spain as a Marine Cadre weapons instructor (8153). He would serve and deploy across U.S. Naval Europe's Sixth Fleet and was promoted to Staff Sergeant.

Staff Sergeant Sorgie reported to Headquarters and Support Battalion, PMO Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC as a Platoon Sergeant/Watch Commander in 2006. In March 2007, he requested orders to 2d Military Police Battalion and was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Platoon Sergeant. In November 2007, Staff Sergeant Sorgie would deploy with Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2d Supply Battalion, to Al Taqqadum, Iraq in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Company Gunnery Sergeant. Upon his return in 2008, he would receive orders to the newly formed Military Police Support Company, II Marine Headquarters Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force to liaison and coordinate the Company's activation.

In September 2008, he was reassigned to II MEF, G-3 as the Anti-terrorism and Force Protection Chief and would deploy from January 2009 until December 2009 to Al Asad, Iraq in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 9-1, 9-2 and Iraqi Sovereignty.

In 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Sorgie requested orders to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Quantico, VA for training as a Marine Security Guard, Detachment Commander (8151). Upon graduating as the class Detachment Commander Leadership Recipient he assumed command of Detachment Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia on August 13, 2010. In September 2011 he was selected and approved by the U.S. State Department to assume command of Detachment Moscow, Russian Federation until departing in 2013.

Gunnery Sergeant Sorgie received orders in 2013 to MCB Hawaii, HQBN, PMO as the Physical Security and Services Chief until his selection to First Sergeant. In January 2014, he reported to 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, as Battery B First Sergeant. While serving as the Battery First Sergeant he participated in the Unit Deployment Program to 3d Battalion, 12th Marines. In March 2015, First Sergeant Sorgie was transferred to Battery A, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines and redeployed to 3d Battalion, 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan.

First Sergeant Sorgie reported to Headquarters Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Installations National Capital Region, MCB Quantico, VA in 2016 as the Company First Sergeant. In 2016 and 2017 he would serve as the assistant Division commander in support of the 41st and 42nd Marine Corps Marathon. He would also provide support personnel to the Presidential Inauguration parade. In November 2017, First Sergeant Sorgie was selected for promotion to Sergeant Major.

June 2018, Sergeant Major Sorgie reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Sorgie reported to 2d Maintenance Battalion, Camp Lejeune in July 2021 until August 2022. He assumed his current billet as Marine Aircraft Group 26 Sergeant Major in September 2022.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (w/gold star in lieu of 4th award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (w/gold star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal (w/gold star in lieu of 3rd award), Presidential Service Badge and Aerial Observer air crew wings.
