VMMT-204 Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Christopher A. Forman

Lieutenant Colonel Forman graduated and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from the United States Naval Academy in 2002 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Engineering.

Second Lieutenant Forman attended The Basic School in Quantico, VA, followed by flight training at NAS Pensacola, NAS Corpus Christi and NAS Whiting Field.  First Lieutenant Forman was designated a Naval Aviator in March 2005 and reported to HMM(T)-164, MCAS Camp Pendleton, CA for training in the CH-46E.
In September 2005, First Lieutenant Forman reported to HMM-264 at MCAS New River, NC.  While assigned to the Black Knights, Captain Forman served as the S-5 and assistant S-1 officer.  During this tour, Captain Forman completed a deployment with the 26th MEU (SOC) aboard the USS BATAAN (LHD-5) from January 2007 through June 2007.

In August 2007, Captain Forman reported to MAG-26 to serve as the Current Operations Officer.  Captain Forman transferred to HMM-261 and was approved for transition to the MV-22B as a plank owner of VMM-261.

Captain Forman completed MV-22B training with VMMT-204 in November 2008 and served as the Future Operations Officer and Pilot Training Officer for VMM-261.  After conducting Enhanced Mohave Viper and transitioning to the Quality Assurance Officer, Capt Forman deployed to Afghanistan from November 2009 through July 2010.  Following the return from Operation Enduring Freedom, Captain Forman returned to Operations as the Assistant Operations Officer.  He attended WTI 1-12 and then deployed with the 24th MEU from March 2012 through December 2012 aboard the USS IWO JIMA (LHD-7) with the Raging Bulls and became the Aviation Combat Element (ACE) Operations Officer for the final two months of the extended deployment.

In January 2013, Captain Forman transferred to Marine Aviation Training Systems Site (MATSS) New River to serve as the 2d MAW MV-22B Flight Leadership Standardization Evaluator and Operations Officer.  While at MATSS, Captain, then Major Forman augmented four Weapons and Tactics Instructor courses, conducted five VMM pre-deployment assessments and Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluations and attended numerous Training Management Team, Transition Task Force and other conferences supporting MV-22 and other T/M/S fleet training.

In July 2016, Major Forman transferred to VMM-162 and served as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer.  Upon CHOP to the 26th MEU in July 2017, Major Forman became the Golden Eagles’ Future Operations Officer and conducted deployment exercise planning in Morocco, Israel, and Jordan.  During deployment from February 2018 to August 2018 aboard the USS IWO JIMA (LHD-7), Major Forman was the ACE forward planner in support of Kuwait sustainment training, then Operation Inherent Resolve support where he served as the detachment Operations Officer.

From September 2018 through January 2019, Major Forman served as the Future Operations Officer for 2d Marine Regiment assisting in the growth from three to five subordinate combat infantry battalions. 

In January 2019, Major Forman returned to MAG-26 and served as the Special Projects Officer. 

Lieutenant Colonel Forman has completed the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, Expeditionary Warfare School (Non-Resident Seminar), and Marine Corps Command and Staff (Non-Resident Seminar).

Lieutenant Colonel Forman’s personal decorations include the Air Medal (Strike/Flight Numeral 3), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Second Award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
